Kira's Korner
Hi! My name is Kira Vest. I’m 17 years old and
a Junior at Eastlake High School. I'm also a Freshman at
Cascadia Community College, as part of the Running Start
program. Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted to become
a doctor. By completing the Associate of Science - Biology Track
at Cascadia, I hope to be able to transfer to the University of
Washington Medical School and eventually become a surgeon.
I play both the flute and piccolo in Wind Ensemble at Eastlake.
I've been playing the flute ever since the 5th grade, and really
enjoy being part of the school band. We are always going to
competitions and marching in events. It's fun to go on trips to
perform for people who appreciate our music. Our band is made up
of Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores. Practices are a lot fun;
there's never a dull moment in the band room! My parents bought
me a Casio WK-3500 76-note full size keyboard for Christmas so
now I'm learning how to play that too.
When I'm not studying hard for school or practicing my music,
you can find me working out down at Grand Master Hwang's
Taekwondo, where I'm currently working on earning my 2nd Dan
Black Belt. I get to help instruct classes and am on the
demonstration team. Qualifying for the team involved a lot of
practice and hard work. The whole team consists of 20 people. We
perform for all kinds of occasions like Political Events,
Business Associations, and Fairs, including the annual Sammi
Awards Art Competition to celebrate the unsung heroes of the
city of Sammamish, Washington. It takes a lot of training and
discipline for us to perform, but it's really rewarding, and a
lot of fun!
In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family,
and listening to contemporary Christian music. My family is very
important to me, without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.Martien's Orthogonal
Hey, my name is Martien Vest.
I'm guessing you want to know a little about me, otherwise you
probably wouldn’t be reading this. The further you read, the
more you will learn, I will tell you about my school,
Taekwondo (the martial arts that I study), my religion, and
things I that I consider fun stuff to do.
To start off with school, I am currently in the 8th grade, but
I am taking 9th grade Algebra classes. I have also been
invited to honor society, I was invited because of my grades
last year, and the minimum is a 3.5 GPA. Also, right now at
school I tried out to make Jazz Band. Guess what? I made it! I
am the 4th chair trumpet player. Next year I will most likely
be 1st chair. I currently have a Bach Stradivarius Model 37
Trumpet. If you are serious about playing the trumpet, I
defiantly suggest that you get one, they are great quality.
Now for Taekwondo! I am currently going to Hwang’s Taekwondo.
I am a black belt. My master has taught me a lot of things,
but the main thing is Self-Defense. I learned how to get out
of many holds, and be able to defend myself if someone were to
attack me while I was walking on the sidewalk. I have also
become extremely flexible, and my endurance has been boosted a
lot. If you would like to learn more about Hwang’s, please
visit
http://www.hwangs.com/.
I am currently a Christian, and I am planning to stay a
Christian. Nothing could change me. I have been baptized in
the name of Christ already. If you have no religion, or a
different religion, I suggest you visit
http://www.spirit1053.com/. The radio station 105.3 FM
plays great music all day long, and it's always safe for the
whole family. You could even find a church near you and go
there one Sunday. Just check it out, you won’t regret it - it
will change your life!
I am planning on working at Microsoft someday. I have wanted
to work there since a little kid. My dad works there. I plan
to get a little head start from that, and already have. My
father has gotten me a book on C# and C++. He also has given
me a few programs on my computer that I still have to work on.
I am not sure anymore of exactly what part of Microsoft I wish
to work in, but I know that I love computers.
Well, now you know a little about me, hope it wasn't to
boring. :)
